As a positive and optimistic person, I find myself searching for uplifting motivation everyday to keep my spirits high. I believe that ‘whatever you look for, you will find’ so I choose to look for the good. I live by this and I have proven this theory, if you will, to be correct.
We can sulk in our misery and constantly keep looking up with our arms stretched out screaming “WHY?” or we can choose to change our attitude and grow to become stronger and one day be helpful to others who are weak in those same struggles.
Have gratitude. Change your perspective. Turn your disappointments into a way to inspire others. Take over the power of your thoughts and become resilient. Spread positivity.
The way you think, changes you. The side effects of negative thinking are harmful – we all know this. If so, then the side effects of positive thinking would be beneficial (the opposite of harmful).
Things I’ve learned about positivity is that it improves happiness. In this world, if I weren’t a positive thinker, I would be a worried soul – and that helps nothing!
It makes me more grateful. I tend to be a ‘noticer’ in terms of how blessed I am. Not nearly at the capacity that I could or should be but I am learning more and more to ‘slow down and smell the roses’ and that is something I could not do if I were a critical or gloomy person.
It helps me to see possibilities, rather than problems. I make wiser choices being able to see future growth, abilities, or even just confidence in decision making. I know that my attitude and outlook on things will help make something more enjoyable whether it is a demand or an option.
There is so much power to thinking positive. And there is so much power to thinking negative. Why not give the power to the one that benefits you and your loved ones. I am positive they would appreciate your consideration. 🙂
[Disclaimer: I understand that some people truly struggle with depression and that positive thinking isn’t something they may be able to grasp. My goal is to encourage and I hope in some way I have done just that.]
An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life:
“A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy.
”It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil–he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.”
He continued, “The other is good – he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you–and inside every other person, too.”
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: “Which wolf will win?”
The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”
Both of the wolves are inside of us. Only one can get stronger and that is the one you feed. It is easy to feed the tired one. The one giving up and listening to the lies of society and of the devil. The one who struggles with guilt and imperfection. Most times – what is harder is the most rewarding and produces the big victories. Finding joy in a tough situation is hard – but rewards strength. Finding excuses is easy but produces more guilt.
So my question is, which one is really the hardest?
It is a great day to think positive. Look for it, be it, don’t wish for it.
