Let our words speak life

Do you gravitate towards positive people? What about being that positive person that others want to be around, are you that person? Maybe you feel like you aren’t strong enough to be able to lift others up. Maybe you feel that you’re going through so much that you need to be the one that is uplifted and encouraged. We all need encouragement but we’re also missing out if we do not give it as well. After all, I firmly believe that ”happiness doesn’t come from what we get, but from what we give” Ben Carson

There is so much power in our words. We can understand this by personal experience and by hearing what the Word of the Lord tell us. “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” Proverbs 18:21 (NKJV) We are all affected by words that are spoken to us by the ones we love, by our enemies, and even by our own voices inside of ourselves. Those words can build us up or tear us down. Christians, we have a choice to allow ourselves to become victims of this power or to become a conqueror. I choose to conquer the hurt and negativity of words and feed myself words of life.

If there were more that would conquer the power of their tongue, there would be more life spoken into others’ lives. There would be more life spoken into our individual lives. Both in which would be saving lives, spiritually and physically. There is power in our words.  So powerful that it can sustain life or lead to death. “Those who love it will eat its fruit”…  If you choose to seek life in your words, the fruit will be life eternal.

Practical ways to produce life in your words:

~ Set personal goals that challenge you to reach out and lift someone else up. Empowering others empowers ourselves and becomes contagious. You’ve been there, you just may have forgotten.  1 Thess. 5:5

~ Forgive others and forgive yourself. If you have fighting within yourself over something in your past, let it go. Pray about it and hand it over to God. If there is a person that is toxic to your freedom, take steps to remove them from having control over your life. Eph. 4:32

~ Be intentionally kind. By thinking of others, we allow God’s light to shine through us and allows others to be blessed. When we bless others, we are blessed. Phil 2:3-4

~ Seek knowledge by reading the Bible more, listen to praise and worship on the radio or on our phones, research positive verses to help you keep a positive focus. Mat 6:33

~ Continually pray. Pray before complaining. Pray before sharing with someone else. Pray about the ‘little’ things. Pray for someone else. Pray all day long.  1 Thess. 5:16-18

“Strong people don’t put others down, they lift them up.” Michael P Watson

  1. You’re so right, there is so much power in the tongue and in our words. I’m a firm believer that if you don’t have something encouraging to say to someone, then don’t say it!
    Thank you for sharing.

  2. This was such a strong and compelling post. I liked when you said, “Maybe you feel like you aren’t strong enough to be able to lift others up.” because that is exactly how I feel when I want to encourage someone but don’t know how.

I also liked when you said, “Christians, we have a choice to allow ourselves to become victims of this power or to become a conqueror.” because that is so true. We can either allow the lies that we tell ourselves and what the world or Satan is telling us or we can become conquerors and defeat the lies told to us.

This post reminded me of a song by Toby Mac called “Speak Life” where in the song, he specifically talks about speaking life into the darkness, into others and even to ourselves. IF you would like, the link is below:

    1. Thank you for sharing With me what my post meant to you. I love that song. I am totally an encourager. It seems that it encourages me to encourage others especially when I do not feel that I am being encouraged by friends or loved ones. I can definitely get down on myself for what I’ve done, or how have not acted as a Christian should, bye I have to make the choice to be positive. So I am all about that. Speaking life from our words. Have a blessed day.
